The California (SB2) Housing and Jobs Act Fee is a recording fee imposed by the Building Homes and Jobs Act to fund affordable housing in California. It is $75 per applicable document. The maximum amount that can be charged is $225, which is no more than 3 applicable documents per single transaction.
By default, LodeStar charges $225 per document and quotes this fee within Section E.
When does this fee NOT apply?
- This fee is exempt when a deed is added and the consideration or market value is greater than $0.
- This fee is not applicable when there is a transfer of property so it is never applied on purchases.
